In November, 2007, in the National Academic Library of RK there was opened the Electronic Reading Room on Oil and Gas by support of “Shevron” Company.

Seric Uzykanov, Deputy Director of the Geology, Geophysics and Containers Department JSC Oil Company “KazMunaiGas” visited the room with his colleagues after its opening. Specialists got acquainted with databases, literatures, wrote down a list of sources on technologies of working out oil and gas fields, its construction, technology of oil and gas production, which are later were used in professional work. According to the words of Seric Uzykanov, opening of the electronic reading room on oil and gas – perspective direction in librarianship, it's valuable that there is the access to the to the electronic databases of special literature. Seric Uzykanov as many readers expresses his thanks to the company Shevron and NAB RK for the great project. Frequent visitors of the room are teachers and students of College of Akmolinskyi University of Technology and Business on specialty “technology of oil and gas processing”. They point out the convenience of the room: library furniture which makes it comfortable, and modern computer technique, Internet. Besides books and periodicals there are 12 maps of oil and gas fields in the room on territory of Kazakhstan and CIS. To read electronic books there are special programmes in the room like E-Readers, each automated working place of a reader equipped with the machine translator from Kazakh, English, and other languages. In a word, everything is on hand. Electronic Reading Room on Oil and Gas will be an experimental place for application and testing of the modern computer works, information technologies, automation and modernization of library business-processes.

Electronic Document Delivery of book fragments, periodicals and other special information is the one of the most popular and favourite services among citizens and readers from different regions.

Student from ENU by name of L.N. Gumilev, Musabekov Ermek writes diploma work on theme “Oil and Gas Complex Management in RK on the terms and conditions of the Market”. And with the help of EDD he ordered fragments from the book of G.D.Amaniyazov “Economy of the Oil and Gas Industry”. Ermek thanked Maral Bektemirova, specialist of the Room, for detailed consultation about resources and operative and qualitative delivery of book fragments to the own mail.
