15^th of January 2012 extraordinary elections of deputies of Mazhilis of the Parliament, selected on party lists and deputies of Maslihata of Astana will take place. The polling station №182 Esil district of Astana is located in National academic library RK. The site covers inhabitants of the houses located in a square of streets Syganak (at home № 3, 5 5/1, 7 7/1, 7/2, 9, 15, 17, 17А, 19, 21 21/1), Sauran (houses №2, 3, 4), Dostyk (houses №12, 12/1), Kabanbai batyra (the house № 29/1).

On 21^st of December in National academic library RK in frameworks 20 years of diplomatic relations establishment between China and Kazakhstan there was reward of books in NAB RK collection, books which were published in China. 440 copies of books in Chinese, Kazakh, Russian and English from 180 names, including CDs were presented.

On 20^th of December this year in hall “Kogildir” National academic library RK literary-creative evening “Alashtyn armanyn zhalhahan” took place, devoted to 60 years since birth of Ph.D., professor, writer, scientist Tursyn Zhurtbay.

In atmosphere of a patriotic spirit on December, 14th this year meeting of collective of the National academic library RK passed, devoted to the 20 anniversary of Independence RK.

14^th of December in hall “Kogildir” in National academic library RK talk-show “Urpaktar undestigi jyane kazirgi zaman” took place, devoted to 25^th anniversary of December events. The main aim of event is to call his members to serious discussion about source of Kazakhstan Independence, promote moral patriotic education and realization by young people of their involvement to destiny of their country, realization proud of Kazakhstan, development of which depends on contribution of every his citizen.

On 6^th of December 2011 this year in National academic library within the framework of action “20 star days – 20 tops of Independence” there were opening of book exhibition with signatures of famous and young Kazakhstan writers and poets, it is called “Koltanbam – halkyma”.

On 30^th this year in the National academic library RK there were presentation of unique innovative project “Historical chronics 20 years of peace, agreement and peace” and its charity donation to Electronic State Librarian Collection – “Kazakhstan National electronic library” (ESLC – “KazNEB”).

On 22nd of November 2011 in the exhibition gallery of National academic library RK there were opening of personal exhibition of famous Kazakh artist, Iran union of masters member - Ermurat Erhasan “Tyauelsisdik jylnamasy” (“The chronicle of Independence”). The exposure is dated to 20years of Independence of RK.

“The archive' curiosity of Kazakhstan Republic President and Golden fund of the National Academic library of the Republic of Kazakhstan”

The opening of extensive exposure in showroom in the National academic library of RK took place under such title. The Director of President's Archive RK Shepel V.N., Director General NAB RK Shaimuhanbetova Zh. K, the chairman of committee on finance and budget of Majilisa RK Karagusova G.D. has opened the exhibition with introductory words.

On the 16^th of November in the National academic library RK opening of book exposition has taken place, it is called “Manash Kosybaev - ulttyk tarihty kaita janhyrtushy”, which devoted to 80 years since birth of the academician of National academy RK, the doctor of historical science, the professor - Kosybaev Manash Kabashevich.

Eurasianism is characterized by a thrust of cultures to each other and upholding of own originality. It is that crossroad of culture, where today we see place of making our common efforts, - said General Director of National library RK Gulisa Balabekova today in Almaty on International conference “New format of Eurasian libraries. Informational systems and technologies.”

From 15 to 20 November in National academic library RK the traditional week of international week has took place. In these days in library many different informative events has taken place, member of which were about 500 people. They are pupils of schools, colleges, students of Astana universities, teachers and all, who are interested in education abroad.

Today in National Academic Library KZ there was presentation of 10 books, which were firstly published by scientists of Institute of State's history MON KZ to 20 years Independence Republic of Kazakhstan.

2^nd of November this year in Hall “Shanyrak” of National Academic Library KZ literary-creative evening “Kel balalar okulyk” has taken place, it is devoted to 170 years from day of birth of outstanding educator, teacher, poet, public figure – Ibray Altynsarin (1841 – 1889). The event was organized by youth wing “Zhas otan” with assistance of NAB RK with aim to popularization among young people creativity and huge contribution of I.Altynsarin in development such spheres as education and upbringing.

Today within the limits of days of Almaty district in Astana in national Academic library of KZ there was literary evening, called “Jetisulyk Akyn-jazushylar Saryarka torinde”, in which representatives of creative intelligency of Astana and Almaty district and artists of Almaty district philharmonic society in the name of Suinbay has taken place.

25^th of October in National academic library KZ the book presentation has taken place, it is called “Alhashky astanalyktar”-“Pioneers of Astana” of Dauren Musy and Sadybek Tugel. Edition release is dated to 20 years anniversary of Kazakhstan independence.

The 18^th of October literary evening “Nyazik zhurek lupili” took place in National academic library of KZ, it is devoted to creative works of the poetess Marziya Ayaganova.

Today in National academic library KZ there was opening of historical documentary exhibition “under a banner of Independence” for the first time, which was organized by the Ministry of International affairs KZ and President KZ's Archive. On the exhibition the main archival documents and materials are shown, which are stored in funds of President KZ's Archive and Ministry of International affairs KZ, its reflect the main marks of formation and strengthening of Kazakhstan Republic Independence. Special place occupies unique documents, freshening multidimensional activity of President KZ, Nursultan Nazarbaev, and opening depth and scale of transformation in period of Independence.

7-8^th of September in National academic library International scientific conference took place, It is called “Turco-Slavica: languages and culture on cross-roads of civilizations”, devoted to 20 years anniversary of Kazakhstan Republic's Independence. Forum was organized within the frameworks of Program of fundamental scientific investigations' Ministry of education and science KZ, called “Historical and cultural heritage and integrational process of Turkic people and states” by project “Language, ethnos, culture in context of turco-slavic interaction.

The 6^th of October creative evening of the poet and journalist Anuar Omarov, “Shabyt” creative young people International festival's double Winner, Winner of International Abay's club, was held in “Kogildir” Hall of National academic library of Kazakhstan Republic.

The 5^th of October the opening of Photo exhibition of Shukir Shahay, the main prize-winner of Republican festival “Ukili umit”, Union of journalists' the winner of the award, personal photographer of Prime-minister, devoted to 20 years anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan Republic, took place in exhibition gallery of National academic library of Kazakhstan Republic.

The 2^nd of October was held a meeting is devoted to International day of Non-violence in memory of Mahatma Gandhi – the Father of Nation and fighter for peace and Non-violence.

The 29^th of September in National academic library of KZ events passed, devoted to book event “One country is one book”- novel of Zhusupbek Aimautov “Akbilek”: talk-show “My attitude to destiny of “Akbilek”, round table of novel “Akbilek”- “ult tahdyry”, the event “Kys tahdyry-kyz myny” and marathon reading.

On the 14th of September cy the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of milestone events, devoted to the 20th anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 10th anniversary of Kazakh branch of Moscow State University named after Lomonosov, opened public lecture by MGU professor Kruzhalin and series of exhibitions. The event gathered professors, heads of high-schools and higher education establishments of Astana, representatives of clerisy.

On 20 July in the National Academic Library Astana Alumni Association hosted a meeting with a legendary person of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yermakhan Ibraimov,Olympic Boxing Champion in Sydney in 2000, the silver prize-winner of the Olympic games in 1996 in Atlanta and the world championships in 1997 and 1999!

On 20 July in the Informational Resources Center American Corner Astana of the National Academic Library of Republic of Kazakhstan was a meeting between Jon Rivera, Commander of Marines, U.S. Embassy, Leili Kokh AC Programmer U.S. Embassy and students from Taraz city, who are learning English by U.S. Embassy program “ACCESS Microscholarship Program”

On July 9, 2011, presentation of monograph “Civil Society of Kazakhstan and Its Role in Humanization of Criminal Policy” of Kuat Rakhimberdin, Kandidat of Jurisprudence took place in “Kogildir” hall, National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Presentation was held in the frame of state social order of Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan realized by Public Foundation “Prometei” (Akmolinsk oblast, Kokshetau city).

On June 30, 2011, solemn ceremony of granting collection of books of Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, and books about Head of state and about our country published abroad in more than 30 world languages took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAB RK). The books were donated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of RK. Representatives of scientific public, diplomatic corps, and mass media participated at this event.

On June 29, 2011, book-documentary exhibition to the Day of Capital “Astana: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow” organized by the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Department of Archives and Documentation of Astana city took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAB RK).

On these days, all colleagues, relatives, friends are congratulating Bauyrzhan Karagyzuly, a worker of the Editorial-Publishing Center of NAB RK. It is not for one cause. Owing to his talent and virtuosic proficiency in writing, Bauyrzhan won Grand Prize of the International competition among the youth “Zhyrym Sagan, Atazhurt” that took place in Astana within the framework of IV Kazakh World Kurultai.

On 23 June, 2011, presentation of the book in state language of Astana writer Bakhyt Rustemov “Heritage of World Literature” devoted to the 20^th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Innovations of the Libraries of Pavlodar Oblast

On 22 June, 2011, seminar “Libraries of Pavlodar Oblast: Innovative Model of Development” took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAB RK). Specialists from oblast libraries - Aktobe, Karaganda, Kostanai, as well as Astana librarians participated at the seminar.

On the 1^st of June, Day of Protection of Children, a big party was organized in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAB RK).

Primary party organization of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAB RK), the branch “Birlik” NDP “Nur Otan” held the act of charity “Under Sign of Kindness” on the eve of Day of Children Protection. On May 31, 2011, inmates of a children's home “Svetoch” were invited to the library. “Svetoch” is located in the village Malotimofeevka, Tselinograd raion, Akmola oblast.

Presentation of book “Socialism Is a Novel about Sin and Fault” has taken place in the National Academic library of the Republic Kazakhstan today. Author is Deputy of Senate of Parliament of the Republic Kazakhstan, an Academician of NAN RK, Doctor of the philosophical science, Professor Garifolla Esim. Deputies of Parliament, representatives of state structures, well-known public figures and literary men took part in that event.

Day of East-Kazakhstan Oblast Library by Name of A.S.Pushkin

We can congratulate the library community of our country with the start of new tradition - Days of Regional Libraries. The author of this idea was the National Academic Library in Astana (www.nabrk.kz), where the first arrangement took place. Here on 27^th of May, librarians from Ust-Kamenogorsk organized a “Day of East-Kazakhstan Oblast Library by name of A.S.Pushkin”. Besides Astana librarians, leading specialists from libraries of Akmolinsk, Kostanai, Karagandy, Pavlodar oblasts participated at this meeting.

On 27^th of May, presentation of the book “Verifying Fate by Printed Line” by famous journalist, publicist, poet, member of Kazakhstan Writers' Union Alexander Tarakov took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Deputies of Parliament, representatives of state structures, well-known public figures and literary men took part in that event.

 On the 24^th of May, young people of Astana met with writers and poets from East Kazakhstan in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Among 13 participants there were Kabdesh Zhumadilov, Serik Gabdullin, Sharbanu Beisenova, Nesipbek Aituly, Alibek Askarov, Ulykbek Esdaulet, Sadibek Tugel, Zhurtbai Tursyn, Tynyshtykbek Abdykakimov, Zhanat Askerbekkyzy, Dauletkerei Kapuly, Kalkaman Sarin, Kemelbaeva Aigul. Famous journalist Serik Zhanbolat conducted the meeting, he made the dialog with authors with his professional skill, it was very interesting for young people.

On 25 May, 2011, a meeting with the American astronaut Mark Polansky and the representative of NASA Joel Montalbano was held in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. So many readers, students of Polytechnic College, students of Linguistic Gymnasium № 5 and pupils from Astana International School were invited for this meeting.

Astana-Seoul: video meeting of Kazakhstani and Korean students

In the network of the Year of Korea in Kazakhstan, the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAB RK) was the initiator of video meeting of students of the Eurasian Institute of Humanities (Astana) and the Hanyang University (Seoul). Video meeting took place on May 12, 2011, in the library “Kogildir” hall. Purpose of arranging dialogue between youth of two countries was promoting reading on international level.  

A musical-poetry evening “Dombira dulduli - Dina” took place in the hall “Kogildir” in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the 28^th of April, 2011.

On April 27, 2011, at 10:00 am, traditional “Open Day” will start in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Astana librarians. This event is devoted to the International Day of Book and Copyright.

On the 13^th of April, 2011, presentation of the book “Kazanat” written by famous horsemen Kenes Rakishev and Sadibek Tugel took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On the 14th of April in the hall “Kogildir” in NAB RK was a literary party “Tarikh. Tagdir.Tulga” dedicated to the 95th anniversary of birthday of poet, writer, scientist Kaum Mukhamedkhanov who studied a creation of Abay.

On April 7, 2011, a presentation of new books "Kazakstandagy Prezidenttіk Bilіk Institutions: Tarikh, Tagylym, Tazhіribe" and "Independence of Kazakhstan and Leader of the Nation" took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan; books were prepared by scientists from the Institute of History of the State of the Ministry of Education and Science, edited by the Director of the Institute, Doctor in History, Professor Burkitbay Ayagan.

Professor, lecturer at the University of Wisconsin School of Library USA - Mrs. Louise Robbins visited the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the 6th of Aprilб 2011. There was an excursion and then meeting of Mrs. Louise Robbins with a professional team of the library.

On 12 March, 2011, a photo exhibition “Tribute to Mother” devoted to Women's History Month in America and the International Women's Day on 8 March was opened in the Information Resource Center “American Corner” of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On March 10, in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan,  in the Hall "Kogildir" it was held a press conference devoted to a book action "One Country - One Book”  by novel Zhusupbek Aymauytova "Akbilek”. At the event there were invited teachers and Astana school librarians, students of ENU named after L.N.Gumilev, students of medical, technical and polytechnic colleges and journalists.

In the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan it was held a scientific-practical conference on 3 February " Zh. Tashenev's civil feat and patriotic upbringing of young people" dedicated to the 96-th anniversary of the birth of Tashenev Zhumabek Akhmetovich an outstanding statesman and public figure.

In the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan on 26 January in  this year with the participation of readers with disabilities took the literary and thematic evening “Zhurekten shygar bir kun syr bulagym” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the famous Kazakh poet Mukagali Makatayev. The evening was opened by the General Director of NABRK Shaimukhanbetova Zh.K.

On 20 January, 2011, Pakistan Corner of Book was opened in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Readers will be acquainted with cultural treasury of Pakistan.

On 15 January 2011, event “Day of Martin Luther King” took place in the American Corner of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Martin Luther King's birthday is celebrated as the USA national holiday. The American nation celebrated that day for the first time on January 20, 1986. 

From 01.01.2011 to 04.01.2011 inclusive, National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be closed in connection with New Year holidays. 31.12.2010 - cleanup day. Reading rooms will be closed.  We will be waiting for you in new year!  

Meeting of readers with well-known Kazakhstan writer, president of Abai International Club Rollan Shakenovich Seisenbaev was held in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Director General of the National Academic Library of RK Shaimukhanbetova Zhanna Kakibayevna and Attaché on Cultural Issues, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Getmann Valeria participated at the event. 

In the frame of the agreement on cooperation with the Russian State Library and under patronage of Interstate Foundation of Humanitarian Cooperation of states – CIS participants (MFGS) ), on 14 December, grand opening of Virtual Reading Room of the Russian State Library (VChZ RSL) took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAB RK). Plate “Virtual Reading Room of the Russian State Library” was presented to the Director General of NAB RK Shaimukhanbetova Zh.K.

Within the terms of the agreement on cooperation with the Russian State Library and under the auspices of Interstate Foundation of Humanitarian Cooperation of states – CIS participants (MFGS), on 14 December, grand opening of Virtual Reading Room of the Russian State Library (VChZ RGB) will take place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAB RK).

On 8 December, 2010, “round table” on topic “Present Activity of the Libraries of the Ministry of Culture of RK: Problems and Their Decision” took place in the National Academic Library of RK. The activity is organized by the National Academic Library of RK and the National Library of RK with the Ministry of Culture of RK assistance. Deputies of Mazhilis of RK Parliament – members of the Committee on Social Issues, representatives of the Ministry of Culture of RK, Statistics Agency of RK, directors and heads of  methodological departments of oblast general research libraries of the republic and Republican Library for Blind and Visually Impaired Persons participated in the work of the “round table”.  

On 12 November, 2010, there was held presentation of the book “World of Turan” of Mongolian Writer, Member of the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia, Chair of Kazakh National Centre in Mongolia Islam Kabyshuly in the frame of Days of Culture of Mongolia in Kazakhstan, in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On November 5, 2010, meeting of readers with speaker from the USA Chak Mills, specialist in economics and finance, took place in the American Corner, National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Chak Mills held presentation on development of small and medium business and access to capital.

On 5 November, 2010, author's reading with famous German writer, journalist and scriptwriter Anja Tukermann took place in “Kogildir” hall of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAB RK). Among the students of schools of the capital who came to meet with the guest from Germany were students of gymnasium #17, German school-complex #46, schools #30, 45.

On November 2, 2010, presentation of text-books “Juvenile studies” in the State and Russian languages for students of institutions of higher education was held in hall “Kogildir”, National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. These text-books are published in Kazakhstan for the first time. The following persons were invited to the presentation: District police juvenile inspectors of Astana city, Director of Public Association “Union of Children's Public Organizations “Zhuldyz” E.A.Dmitrienko, students of Kazakh Humanities-Juridical University, Kazakh Agrotechnical University by name of S.Seifullin, Economic-Juridical College of the capital.

On 29 October, 2010, show of documentary “Kazakhtyn Bauyrzhany” took place in “Kogildir” hall, National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAB RK) first in Astana. The film is devoted to the great son of Kazakh nation Baurzhan Momyshuly. The film is produced at film studio “Kazakhfilm”, director is Kalila Umarov, documentary film maker, Honored figure of RK, member of Filmmakers' Union of RK; script author is Elzat Eskendir.

On 22 October, 2010, seminar for librarians of Astana “Peer Reviewed Scientific Online Databases”  was held in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Worldwide known resources in English such as IEEE, Gale, InfoTrackColutions, Wiley-Blackwell, OECD library were presented at the seminar. The seminar was conducted by Mehmet Haseki, General Manager of MIKRO Company (Turkey), and Metin Tunch, Manager for Sale. After seminar, introductory excursion round library was held for the guests.   

 In these September days, readers of Kazakhstan get acquainted with a main work of the Action “One Country - One Book” - poem of Zhuban Moldagaliev “I Am Kazakh” - at different events organized in libraries. In the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, there was organized poetic marathon, competition on Braille reading and writing, literary composition “I Am Kazakh”, essays contest in English where the readers expressed their patriotic feelings. What is the place and importance of Zhuban Moldagaliev's poem “I Am Kazakh” in spiritual heritage of Kazakhstani people, strengthening of civil society and friendship between nations of Kazakhstan. These and other topics were discussed on the “round table” “Zhuban's Song: Messenger of Spirit and Unity” on 28 September in NAB RK.

On 28 September, 2010, Terezia Mora, writer, scriptwriter, and interpreter from Germany, met with her readers in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the network of the “Year of Germany in Kazakhstan 2010”.

On 22-28 September, 2010, events devoted to the Action “One Country – One Book” will take place in libraries, educational institutions of Kazakhstan. Aim of the project is to promote the book, high status of the Kazakh literature, moral-patriotic upbringing and, of course, attract readers to reading and library.

A significant day in the history of independent Kazakhstan - the 15th Anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan – is approaching. Methodical recommendations “Ata Zanga – 15 Zhyl” in state and Russian languages for this event have been prepared by the staff of the Scientific-Analytical Centre of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The methodical recommendations are intended to help librarians, lecturers and other interested parties at conducting events devoted to the Constitution of RK.

On 21 May, 2010, press-conference devoted to announcement of the book of the Action “One Country – One Book” took place in the musical hall of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On May 21, 2010, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Austria Yerzhan Kazykhanov presented Book of Memory “Yestelik Kitaby” to the Director General of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan Otarbayev R.K. This book is about the warriors from Kazakhstan who participated in battles for Austria and Berlin in 1941-1945.

Meeting of the library Director General Otarbayev R.K. with the journalists from France Dmitry Freedman and Pierre Le Belle who work in the journal “The Chief about International Relations”, took place on 19 May, 2010, in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The guests came to Kazakhstan to collect materials for a book about the President of Kazakhstan N.A.Nazarbayev, particularly they are interested in the activities of the State head on forming Kazakhstan and role in globalization. The book will be published by N.A.Nazarbayev's visit to France which is planned on autumn this year.

On 12 May, 2010, Day of Information for teachers of the English language of Astana city was held in the frame of educational events in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This event was conducted by specialists of library services: services for users, information-bibliographic service, electronic resources management.

On 6 May, 2010, party “Kyran Kyzy Kazaktyn” devoted to the first Kazakhstani military woman pilot from Uralsk – Khiuaz Dospanova, took place in Ethnography Room, National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On 26 April, 2010, presentation of book “Land Which Became Home” took place in the National Academic Library of RK. Author of the book – Deputy of Mazhilis of RK Parliament, Member of the Assembly of the Nation of Kazakhstan, Academician of International Academy on Informatization, Chair of Bulgarian Cultural Centre Oleg Dymov. The author presented a copy of his book for NAB RK collection.

Specialists of Libraries from Kyzylorda Oblast Had Training on the Basis of NAB RK .On 19-23 April, 2010, nine specialists of libraries from Kyzylorda oblast had training course on the basis of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Within the five-day training programme, there were conducted 13 lessons on the following topics: “Kazakhstan National Electronic Library – KazNEB. Goals and Use”, “Electronic Library Collection.

American Corner Is a New Resource Centre of NAB RK

On April 22, 2010, opening ceremony of American Corner took place at the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. U.S. Chargé d'affaires Pamela L. Spratlen, Chairman of Culture Committee of the Ministry of Culture I.M. Kozybayev, and Director General of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan R.K. Otarbayev made a speech at the opening ceremony.

Book “Kazygurt” – Guide in Local History World

On 20 April 2010, publishing house “Foliant” presented a new book “Kazygurt” published in series “Menin Otanym - Kazakhstan” (“My Home is Kazakhstan”) in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Well-known cultural figures, intelligentsia representatives, poets and writers were present at the presentation.

National Academic Library of the Republic of Astana took part in International Book Fair “BookExpoAstana – 2010”. This fair was conducted in Astana on 1-3 April, 2010, in exhibition complex “Korme”, Astana Centre of International Trade. Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Akimat of Astana city officially supported the exhibition.

Research reading room is opened in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It serves researchers, lecturers, doctoral candidates, postgraduate students, and all who is engaged in research work.

On 16 March, 2010, theatre staging on Erich Kastner was shown in the frame of the Year of Germany in Kazakhstan, in the “Kogildir” Hall of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Students of the fifth, seventh, and eighth grades of German gymnasium №46 of Astana city, under the direction of Julia Koll (Scholar of Robert Bosh Foundation) and Natalie Keller (Language Assistant, German Language Center of Astana city), participated in the project. Students from eight schools of Astana city studying the German language were invited as audience to the performance.

On 16 March, 2010, the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan was visited by representatives of Yaroslavskiy State Pedagogic University by name of K.D.Ushinskiy: Afanasiyev V.V., Chancellor, Doctor of Pedagogics, Professor; Rozhkov M.I., Director of the Institute of Pedagogics and Psychology (IPP), Doctor of Pedagogics, Professor; Zolotaryeva A.V., Doctor of Pedagogics, Professor, Head of Department of Education Management of IPP; Molokov D.S., Candidate of Science, Associate Professor, Dean of Social Management Faculty, IPP. During excursion round the library, guests got acquainted with electron catalogue, KazNEB possibilities, literature in foreign languages, and exhibition library activity. In turn, representatives of Yaroslavl' higher school noted high level of automation and library service for readers in NAB RK.

On 26 February, 2010, opening of exhibition “Kazakhstan – Zhasampaz Zhetistikter Zholynda” devoted to history of independent Kazakhstan took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On 19 February, 2010, musical-poetical party devoted to 190^th anniversary of kyuishi and philosopher Shygaiuly Dauletkerei “Kudiret Rukhyn Kui Tilimen Kestelegen Bapas Baba” took place in the hall “Kogildir” of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Teachers and students of musical schools of Astana city, students of higher educational institutions, military personnel of Republican Guard (military unit 0112) were invited to the party.

On February 5, 2010, reporting back meeting on 2009 sums took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The following persons participated in the meeting: Head of Department of Regional Development and Libraries, Committee on Culture, Ministry of Culture and Information of RK Tauekelov S.B., People's Writer of Kazakhstan Akim Tarazi, and Director General of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan Otarbayev R.K.

On 3 February, action of books donation timed to opening of Year of Germany in Kazakhstan took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On January 26, 2010, signing of Agreement on Cooperation between the Assembly of the Nation of Kazakhstan and the Assembly of the Nations of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Tugzhanov E.L., Deputy Chair, Head of the ANK Secretariat, signed the Agreement in the name of the Assembly of the Nation of Kazakhstan. Mukhametshin F.Kh., Chair of the Council of ANT, the Speaker of Parliament of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, signed the Agreement in the name of the Assembly of the Nations of Tatarstan.

On January 22, 2010, presentation of book “Altai. Altyn Besik, Ata Zhurt” took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Its author is Alibek Askarov, a well-known writer, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, Laureate of State Award, prosaist, essayist.

On 15 January, 2010, presentation of book “Yereimentau” with participation of writers, poets, cultural workers, historians, and representatives of intelligentsia took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the same time, there was organized exhibition of “Foliant” publishing house's book production.

On December 11, 2009, opening of Information Center took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NABRK). NABRK opened the Center together with the National Library of Korea and Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Creators called their project “Window on Korea”.

On December 10, 2009, meeting of commemoration of People's writer of Kyrgyzstan, prominent literary man, public and state figure Chingiz Aitmatov took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Republican Scientific-Practical Conference “Zhiraulyk Dastur Zhauharlary” devoted to 150^th anniversary of Muryn zhirau Sengirbayev took place on October 7, 2009, in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was organized by Committee on Languages, Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with Institute of Literature and Art by name of Auezov in the frame of XI Republican Festival of Languages of People of Kazakhstan.

On 28 September, 2009, a republican exhibition “State Support for the State Language” took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of XI Republican festival of languages of Kazakhstan people.

On 2 September, 2009, meeting of representatives of the Assembly of the Nations of Kazakhstan with scientists headed by Arto Pekka Luukkanen, director on research of processes in Russia and Eastern Europe, Helsinki University, took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Meeting was devoted to the issue of preparing unique book about Kazakhstan in Finland.

In December 2009, an International seminar “Indices of National Libraries Activities” will take place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Russian State Library (RGB), Library Assembly of Eurasia (BAE), National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NABRK), and Library Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan (BARK) are organizers of the forum.

On 28-30 September, 2009, IV International book exhibition-fair and conference “Book Is Way of Cooperation and Progress” will take place in Ashgabat. Otarbayev R.K., Director General of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Valiulina M.B., Head of Library Research-Analytical Centre, will participate in the events in the capital of Turkmenistan.

On July 3, on the eve of the Day of Capital the presentation of public association “Alash amanaty” under the name “Ulttyk ruh enseli elorda” took place in the National Academic Library of RK. The association purpose – formation of respect for the historical past of the Republic of Kazakhstan, support of a state languauege development, perpetuation of the memory of figures of Alash movement. With a salutatory word the presentation was opened by the Director General of NAL РК Otarbayev R. K.

In the framework of official visit in Kazakhstan, on June 29, 2009 the President of Turkish Administration on International Cooperation and Development (TIKA) Musa Kulaklikaya visited the National Academic Library of RK. Director General of NAL RK Otarbayev R.K. welcomed distinguished guest. There was made an exhibition of library for guests from Turkey. Particularly they visited exhibition hall, Electronic Reading Room of Oil and Gas, “Dialogue” hall and the Mahatma Gandhi India Study Centre.

On June 26, the second scientifically-practical conference “Cultural text of Astana” continued its work at the Eurasian National University by name of L.N.Gumilev. There was held “round table talk” “Social designing of reality: actual problems of modern city researches (from sociology to city metaphysics)” and also were summed up results of the conference with resolution acceptance.

On June 25, 2009 the second international scientific-practical conference “Cultural text of Astana” started its work at the National Academic Library of RK. It was opened from the presentation of exhibition “New city, new Kazakhstan. There were presented more than 50 projects of students and teachers of “Design” faculty of ENU by name of L.N.Gumilev. Asylhanov E.S., Chairman of the Alliance of Designers of Astana city, Director of “Design” Department of Eurasian University marked that these works show creative vision of the future of Astana, modern directions of medium, shape and interior organization with the glance of national peculiarities. Many of presented works won prize places on Republican and International competitions.

On June 23, 2009 presentation of the book “ Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev – The Founder of Independent State” took floor in the Palace of Independence, Astana. Specially for presentation the specialists of the National Academic Library of RK prepared book exhibition which presented the works of the President of the country N.A. Nazarbayev, the books which show his multisided activity for the benefit of Kazakhstan development, and also publications devoted to the independent Kazakhstan and international collaboration of the state.

On June 12, 2009, the conference “Astana 2009” took place in the National Academic Library of RK, devoted to the invitation to the international Central Asian exhibition fair on goods export, held in Kulzha city, Xinjiang Uigurian Autonomic District PRC. The action was organized by the Innovative Centre on Languages Development “Zerde” by Akimat of Astana city.

“Cultural text of Astana”

On June 25-26, 2009 the Second Iinternational scientific-practical conference “Cultural text of Astana” will take place in Astana.

On June 10, 2009 Director General of the National Academic Library of RK Otarbayev R.K. and specialists of library visited Presidential Centre of Culture. There was the premiere of scientific-documentary film “Tabylmai kelgen kazyna” and presentation of the book about Elibai akyn (Li Bai – Li Bo), the author of which is Omirbek Baigeldi.

On June 4, 2009 at the National Academic Library of RK there was the meeting of staff devoted to the state symbols of Kazakhstan. The new state symbols of independent Kazakhstan were affirmed this day in 1992. The 4^th of June will state in the history of the country as the day of birth of new state symbols.

On June 1^st,2009 at the National Academic Library of RK there was holiday “Writers of Kazakhstan to children” in the framework of Republican Action “We are your children, Kazakhstan! We will live in the new world!” It was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of RK in common with the Ministry of Culture and Information and devoted to the 60 year anniversary of International Day of Children's Defense.

On May 28, 2009 at the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan there was meeting of the round table talk on the project Legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan “About carrying additions and changes in the Legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan “About Culture” for purpose of programme putting realization of the party “Nur-Otan” – “Culture and Art support – one of the main priorities of the party”.

On May, 28th of this year in the National Academic Library RK within the limits of the Action «One country – one book» has taken place the reader's conference devoted to creativity of the outstanding Kazakh poet M.Zhumabayev. Pupils of 8th class and teachers of international school “Miras” Sartaeva B.K., the teacher of biology; Ryspekova A.T., the teacher of the Kazakh language and the literature have taken part in it.

On may 21^st, 2009, in the national Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan there was the creative reading of the famous improvisator of folk-lore, the National akyn of the Republic of Kazakhstan Konysbai Abil. The action was devoted to the 55 year anniversary of akyn. The famous poets and writers came to congratulate with anniversary. There also was presentation of the book of Konysbai Abil “Ai-ai”akyn aldii”.

Today the National Academic Library is five. To celebrate the occasion of the first jubilee – there is the Day of Open Doors in the library. The tuneful melody sounds, there is the colored logotype “5 zhyl”, there are balloons everywhere, decorated reading rooms organize various exhibitions, librarians as usual welcome readers, who congratulate every librarian with the jubilee. The ceremonial music sounds. The readers welcome the Director General of the National Academic Library of RK Berdigalieva R.A., guests and all staff of the library.

From April, 15 till April, 17th of this year in Almaty 5th International book and polygraphic fair "On the Great Silk Way" has taken place. The production have presented more than 40 large publishing houses and the companies of Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey. For the purpose of studying of the book market of Kazakhstan, expansion of direct contacts to suppliers at fair has visited the head of Service of formation of funds of the National Academic Library of RK Kalykova K.B. Kenzhe Bidasbekovna have been come into contacts to publishing houses of Kazakhstan and Russia, numerous price-lists are received, also it managed to hear to the review of legal definitions of Germany on publishing. Besides the head of department NAB RK has brought from fair more than hundred new books which will soon fill up library fund.

On March 28, the National Academic Library of RK joined the International Action “Hour of the Earth” for the first time. Illumination of the building was switched off for one hour. As the Director General of NABRK Berdigalieva R.A. mentioned, the action's aim was to attract attention of Astana citizens and all the Kazakhstan people to ecology issues and reasonable using of natural resources, energy-efficient technologies.

On March 20, 2009, opening of personal exhibition of the artist Kanseit Karlygash Leskyzy took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The exhibition is devoted to Nauryz-meiramy.

Presentation of books of famous Russian scientists-historians Amanzholova D.A.”At Fracture: Alash in Ethnopolitical History of Kazakhstan” and Bekmakhanova N.E. “Annexation of Kazakhstan and Central Asia to Russia (XVIII – XIX centuries)” took place on 17 March in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This event was organized by Central apparat of “Nur-Otan” People's-Democratic Party, Presidential Foundation of State Language Development, National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On March 13, 2009, in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, there was a press-conference on announcing a book for “One Country – One Book” Action. Participants were the following: Kyrykbayev A.O., Chair of the Committee of Culture, Ministry of Culture and Information of RK; members of the Action organizing committee – Esim Garifolla, Deputy of Senate, RK Parliament; Smail A.Z., Deputy of Mazhilis, RK Parliament, writer, academician, Doctor of Philosophy; Berdigalieva R.A., Director General of NABRK, President of Library Association of RK; Tarazi A.U., writer, First Secretary of the Association of Writers, Astana city; Kairat Zhumagaliev, well-known poet.

National census of the population is taking place in Kazakhstan. Its slogan is “Everybody Is Important!”. Census is not only a statistical sum but an instrument for economic and social prognostication. Census results are addressed not only to us but to those who will live further. So, to take an active part in census is our civic duty.

On February 18-20, 2009, VI Kazakhstan International Exhibition “Education and Science of XXI Century – 2009” is taking place in Congress-Hall with support of Ministry of Education and Science of RK and Akimat of Astana city. National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NABRK) participates in exhibition work. It is the only library among 70 participants – leading organizations and institutions of Kazakhstan education and science, as well as countries of the near and far abroad: Russian Federation, Republic of Bashkortostan, Bulgaria, Germany, Turkey and Czechia.

National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan was presented with 184 books of “Syrdariya Kitapkhanasy” series. This series was initiated by the oblast akim M.A.Kul-Mukhammed and prepared for publication by public association “International Scientific-Research Centre on Korkyt Ata Heritage” at Kyzyl-Orda State University by name of Korkyt Ata, recommended for publication by academic council. “Syrdariya Kitapkhanasy” series was published by “Foliant” publishing house.

Publishing house “Almatykitap” assigned 836 books, encyclopedias, albums, various textbooks in state, Russian, and English languages of 290 titles.

National Academic Library of RK and Embassy of the People's Republic of China in RK are starting activities in the frame of project “Spring Regards from China”.

On January 15, 2009, in the National Academic Library of RK, there was opening of the personal exhibition “Patterns of life” (Omir ornegi) of famous painter, skilled worker of the national art of tapestry Batyrbek Tuganbaiuly Otep (1946-1992). Organizers of display are the National Academic Library of RK and wife of the painter Bibaisha Utepova.

On November 9, 2009 National Academic Library of RK was visited by the First Secretary on Culture and Education of the Embassy of China in the Republic of Kazakhstan Li Chji. The main aim of the visit - acquaintance with librarianship and library activity. Deputy Director General of NAB RK Sarsembinova A.N. held an excursion for the guest, during of which Li Chji was interested in possibilities and services of library, asked a lot of questions and expressed his opinions about relationships improvement.

On January 9, 2009 the National Academic Library of RK was visited by the First Secretary on Culture and Education of the Embassy of People's Republic of China in the Republic of Kazakhstan Li Chzhi. On January 12, 2009 NAB RK welcomed Mr. Naif ben Musa Al'-Mutairi – representative of the General Administration on Tourism and Historic Monuments of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

From December 20 to 23 the group of young specialists of Central Universal Science Library by name of N.N.Nekrasov of Moscow city got acquainted with the new information-communicative technologies, used in the activity of National Academic Library of RK.

From December 19 to 21 there were cultural-educational actions in Astana in the framework of the Close the Year of Ukraine in the Republic of Kazakhstan. On December 20, the National academic Library of RK was visited by the representative delegation from Ukraine, which took part in the work of “round table talk” on theme: “Electronic Libraries. International Partnerships. Integration Possibilities and Interactions of Ukraine and Kazakhstan”.

On December 17, 2008 Russian State Library announced about completion of the project on creation of the Biggest Electronic Book Storage in Europe. Storage capacity is 162 TBite, which is equal to 3000000 books. Project realized jointly with the companies KROK and EMC.

In the exhibition hall of National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan works the exhibition “Azat elim - Atamekenim”, devoted to the Day of Independence.

On December 11, in the “Suhbat” hall of National Academic Library of RK there was “round table talk” on the theme “Painting as the formation of spiritual image by art thinking”, devoted to the works of painter, architect, disigner – Bahtybek Talkambaev. The participants of “round table talk” were national writer of Kazakhstan – Sh.Murtaza, head of Department of Languages Development of Astana – Asangazy O.A., representative of Kazakh national culture – Iskakov S.I., scientist, ethnographer, painter – K.Ahmetzhan, writer – Seiit Kenzheahmetov, and also painters and representatives of creative intelligentsia of Astana.

International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) – leading organization, representing interests of libraries and readers. The main work of is realized with the help of departments and sections. Four representatives of NAB RK are the members of Standing Committees of sections: “Asia and Oceania”, “Bibliography”, “Management of Library Associations”.

On December 6, in “Kogildir” hall of National Academic Library of RK, there was solemn meeting devoted to creation of the Initial Party Organization National Democratic Party “Nur-Otan” by National Academic Library of RK. The participants of meeting were Kurmangalieva Zh.D., Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information of RK, Berdigalieva R.A., Director General of National Academic Library of RK, Ilyasova A.K.- Director of the Departmnet of Party-Organizational Activity of Central Machinery of NDP “Nur-Otan”, Aubakirov M.A. – Vice-Chairman of the branch “Birlic” of NDP “Nur-Otan”. On the meeting in NDP “Nur-Otan” there were admitted into the NDP “Nur-Otan” 24 specialists of the Ministry of Culture and Information of RK and National Academic Library of RK. The chairman of Initial Party Organization NDP “Nur-Otan” by National academic Library of RK was elected Kurmangalieva Zh.D., Vice-Chairman – Berdigalieva R.A., Vice-Chairman on work with youth – Nukezhanov E.B. – Chief Expert of the department of Socio-Political Activity of MCI RK.

On December 4, 2008, the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan was visited by Dzhanbergenov K.M., akim of Esil region of Astana city. During the excursion which was held by Director General of NAB RK Brdigalieva R.A., akim got acquainted with rooms for readers equipped with modern technology, electronic services, book exhibitions published on State Program “Cultural Heritage”. Kairat Myrzahanovich was also in the centre of Digitization of Kazakhsani National Electronic Library (KazNEB). Akim approved of the development of KazNEB project and wished success in further work.

On November 20, in the Hall “Kogildir” of National Academic Library of RK, there was held presentation of the second book of Sapar Iskakovich Iskakov “Eights wonder of the world, or the world by the eyes of tourist ”, and books published with his sponsore support: translation of the book of Al'-Farabi “Musyka turaly ulken kitap” and book of Kairat Saki “Kypshak Mamlukter” from Arab language into Kazakh. All these books enriched the collection of NAB RK. Furthermore electronic copes of these books “Eights wonder of the world or the world by the eyes of tourist”and “Fascinated wanderer” will be in Kazakhstani National Electronic Library. It was signed the author's agreement with Iskakov S.I.

On November 20, in National Academic Library of RK in the frame of cooperation with the Shevron MunaiGas Inc., there was held the seminar-training “Electronic Recourses and Electronic Services in Modern Library Centers” with participation of lecturer from Moscow Stepanov Vadim Konstantinovich – the professor of the chair of information communication and electronic libraries of Moscow State University of Culture and Art, candidate of pedagogical sciences.

On November 18, in National Academic Library of RK, there was the action of book gifts of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Poland Aleksei Volkov.

The portal “National Electronic Library of Kazakhstan – Electronic State Library Collection” was marked in famous “Big KazNet Encyclopedia ”, in rubric “Hot “Pancakes” of KazNet” last week. Famous information – educational portal “Lyakhov.KZ — Big KazNet Encyclopedia” is existed in Internet since 1996 in different forms and is one of the authoritative guides in Kazakhstani Internet segment.

On October 7, There was the meeting of the Club of Editors-in-chief with participation of the Minister of culture and information RK Kul-Muhammed M. and the responsible secretary of department Kurmangalieva Zh.D. in the National academic library.

As the perspective directions of cooperation of Kazakhstan and Latvia are the education, public health services, tourism and sports spheres. On September 24 started the action “One country – one book” in Kazakhstan.

This day in the state libraries of Kazakhstan – in rural and city, children's and youthful, oblast and regional - are spent more than 100 actions. In the action are involved libraries and other systems and departments, including, school, high school.

On September, 23rd the press conference devoted to the action «One country – one book» has taken place in National Academic Library.

On August 1, 2008, an excursion for librarians-coordinators of American Corners from Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan was organized. The group of librarians was headed by Bill Middleton, a specialist for library programs of the State Department, USA.

On July 31, 2008, Corporate Fund “Future without Drugs” held a ‘round table' on drug addiction prophylaxis among young people, as well as exhibition “We Choose Life!” in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This event was supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

To 10^th anniversary of Astana

On the 1 of July of this year solemn assembly took place in the Ministry of culture and information of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On this ceremony head of departments Mukhtar Kul-Muhammed presented workers of culture, art and mass media with medals “10^th anniversary of Astana”.

On 23rd of June of this year the auto trip " Library Salute to Astana " continued in Ekibastuz city. The first meeting with delegation from Astana - group of experts from National academic library RK - took place in Akimate with Akim's assistant - Aizada Kurmanova. Further participants of auto trip waited in CBS of Ekibastuz.

On 20^th of June, of this year, At the Palace of culture of miners, citizens of Karaganda in solemn conditions warmly welcomed guests from Astana. Experts from capital libraries - National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Presidential Center of culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Centralized library system of the city arrived on the festival. Chief of the delegation was the general director of National Academic Library RK, President of Library Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan Berdigalyieva Roza Amangaliyevna.

Devoted to jubilee of Astana

On June, 19-20th of this year in National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan the international conference " the Cultural text of Astana " took place. The organizers of the forum were the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Library Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Department of internal policy of Akimat of Astana. The partner was the Embassy of the USA.

The First Meeting of Young Librarians took place in National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan in May, 22-23 2008. The organizers are: The Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Library Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The opening of the Exhibition devoted to 10-th anniversary of the capital “Astana is pride of my country ” took place in National Academic Library.

On May, 15th in the " Kogyldir “hall of the National Academic Library the press conference, devoted to the first Republican Meeting of young librarians of Kazakhstan took place. Participants of press conference were: Zhalmaganbetova S. - a member of the committee on social and cultural development of the Senate of Parliament RK, Karibzhanova R.S. - the vice-chairman of the Committee of culture and information, Berdigalieva R.A. - the general director of National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the President of Library Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Narbekova B.M. - the expert of Management of State standards and maintenances of higher education of the Ministry and education of the Republic of Kazakhstan , Eleusizova K.B. - the head of integration and development department of projects of Republican Agency on information and communications.

14, March, 2008, National Academic Library RK met the rector of Kazakh National Academy of Music, Professor Aiman Musahodjaeva. In the Centre “Dialogue” carried out an exhibition “Alem artisy – Aiman Musahodjaeva” by an anniversary of national artist and 10 years National Academy of Music headed by her.

Within the limits of a week of partnership " NATO and Kazakhstan " (on April, 7-11th 2008) the special representative of the Secretary general of NATO across the Central Asia and Caucasus Robert Simmons has lead meetings with the Kazakhstan high-ranking officials for consideration of questions of NATO-Kazakhstan cooperation on the Individual plan of partnership action (PARP) and processing of planning and revision (PARP) in Almaty and Astana. In these frameworks there has passed a series of actions of public diplomacy.

On March, 20th the holiday "Nauriz Duman" took place in the ethnographic hall of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Its organizers are - National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NALRK) and school number 56 of Astana city with state language teaching. The collective of school has expressed desire to celebrate Nauriz holiday in NALRK. The main library of the country is the Center of a cultural life of capital. One of the directions of its activity is cultivation of patriotism, culture of reading through the propagation of a historical heritage of Kazakh people. With this purpose the ethnographic hall is working, which primary goals are cultivation of deep respect to the historical past of Kazakh people, to its cultural heritage, ancient traditions and customs which promote strengthening of morals, spirituality, intellectual qualities of future generations.

Mustafa Balchik, Director General of Organization on Development of Turk Culture, arrived to Kazakhstan to discuss development of cultural cooperation within Organization on Development of Turk Culture – some kind of analogue with UNESCO for Turk nations. A meeting of Minister of Culture and Information of RK Ertysbayev E.K. with Mr.Balchik was held.

On March 12^th 2008 in “Kogildyr” hall of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the next session of the international scientific lectorium of the NALRK from the series “scientists of the MSU are performing” on a theme “Role of the demographical factor in the development of the postsoviet countries(by the example of Russia)” took place. In its work the deputy of the Senate, chairman of Committee on social-cultural development of the Senate of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Bizhanov A.H., director of the Kazakhstan branch of the Moscow State University named after M.V.Lomonosov, doctor of the economical sciences, professor – Sidorovitch A.V., doctor of the economical sciences, head of the population department of the MSU – Iontsev V.A.

Co-operation becomes a tradition. One can characterize mutual relations between the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Embassy of India in such way.

On February 26, an event “Friendship By Means Of Culture” in honour of the prominent human of the planet Mahatma Gandhi was conducted in the library hall “Kogildir” with assistance of the Embassy of India and Embassy of South-African republic. Director Richard Attenborough's film “Gandhi” was shown in English. The event was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions, Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, mass-media, and all those collaborating with India.

On February 22, meeting of the Public Council for State Programme “Cultural Heritage” implementation was held under the chairmanship of Ashimbayev M.S., Deputy Head of the Administration of the President RK, in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

21, February, National Academic Library of RK accepted the honored quest – Mr. Ali Akbar Ashari, director of National Library and Archive of Iran, Advisor of culture of Islamic Republic's Chairman.

In April, 2008, within the framework of annual measures, devoted the World day of book, Ministry of culture and information of Republic Kazakhstan and Library association of Republic Kazakhstan conducts the first Gathering of young librarians of Kazakhstan in Astana in the National academic library of RK.

Lecture by Tomilin A.N., Professor of MGU, Doctor in Physics and Mathematics, honoured worker of Russia science was given in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan on 7 December 2007, in the frame of international public lectures. Alexander Nikolaevich finished mechanical-mathematical faculty of MGU, mathematics speciality. Tomilin A.N. gives lectures on computing systems and operating systems at faculty of calculus mathematics and cybernetics, MGU. He prepared 7 Kandidates of Science. He has more than 50 scientific publications in area of systems software and modeling structures of computing systems, area of information systems and virtual reality systems, and history of creation of computing systems and software.

On 5 December 2007, meeting of the Public Council “Madeni Mura” under the leadership of Ashimbayev M.S., Deputy Head of the President RK Administration, Chairman of the Public Council “Madeni Mura”, took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Rector of MGU Sadovnichiy V.A. met with scientific intelligentsia, representatives of higher education and youth of Kazakhstan on 13 November 2007, in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Opening of international public lectures centre was held at the meeting. The first lecture “Prospects of Education Development in XXI Century” was given by Rector of MGU Sadovnichiy V.A. The eminent guest presented some books to the library.

On 8 November 2007, a “round table” devoted to 70^th anniversary of the public figure, scientist and publicist, honored worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhotabaev N.R. was held in Center “Dialogue” of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On November 21, 2007, readers met with German writer and journalist Annet Groeshner in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the project “People and Books” implemented by Goethe-Institute Almaty and National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On November 21, 22, 23, 2007, a meeting with German writer, journalist and editor Annet Greshner will take place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This meeting will be conducted in the context of library initiative “People and Books”.

In September 2007, Agreement on Cooperation between the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan Branch of the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov was signed. The Agreement stipulates for exchange of information sources – books, electron carriers, and direct intellectual communication. On October 20, 2007, there was an opening ceremony of the lecture-hall “Scientists of Moscow State University Speak” in the “Kogildir” hall. Realization of a new project was timed to the 15^th anniversary of diplomatic relations establishment between Kazakhstan and Russia.

On October 23, 2007, an opening ceremony of the personal exhibition of Amanat Nazarkulov, artist of monumental painting, took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The exhibition is devoted to the Day of Republic.

October 24 is the United Nations Day in the whole world. Republic of Kazakhstan became a full member of the UN on 2 March 1992, at the 46^th session of the UN General Assembly. The UN started its activity in Kazakhstan in 1993 by opening first offices, specialized agencies, programmes and funds of the UN. 

On October 23–28, 2007, 7^th Week of the Italian Language in the World “Italian Language and the Sea” will be held in Kazakhstan.

Action “One Country – One Book” News Line

On 24 - 30 September, in Kazakhstan, the Action “One Country – One Book” took place. It united thousands of Kazakhstan people in their desire to read Abai, understand wisdom of his “Book of Words”, know more about ideas of philosopher, thinker, scientist. Collective reading and discussions made people think about their life and world we live in.

On September 24, opening of Action “One Country – One Book” ceremony was held in the Oblast General Research Library named after A.Tazhibayev. Representatives of oblast department of culture, regional museum, universities named after Korkyt ata and “Bolashak”, mass media participated at the opening. During the Action days, there was held an exhibition “Dalanyn Dara Danasy”.

Its aim is to consider many aspects of contemporary issues in the “Book of Words” and reveal the book content from the point of view of cultural and educational meaning for the present generation. Students of the Eurasian National University named after L.N.Gumilev will touch the following topics – “Moral-Ethic Issues In the “Book of Words”, “Abai About Education And Modern Philosophy Of Education. Modern Approaches To Education: Preservation Of National Peculiarities And Globalization”, “Abai About Power And Man In Power. Contemporary View Of the Issue”, “Book Of Words As A Literary Work”, “Abai About Religion. Religious Organizations In Kazakhstan, Their Role And Meaning In Interconfessional Issues”.

Idea of the Kazakhstan project “One Country - One Book” is based on the widely known in the USA library projects “One Book, One Chicago” and “If the Whole Seattle Reads One Book”, when the whole city reads the same book at the same time.

“Why don't we realize the project as Chicagoan here in Kazakhstan?” - thought the specialists of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan after getting acquainted with the project “One Book, One Chicago”. It's interesting, cognitive, and necessary today when our country goes fast to information progress, involves into international economical, political, scientific and cultural ties. Requirements for competence level of graduates of schools and higher educational institutions, young managers and state employees rise.

On September 12, 2007, teaching staff of the Kazakhstan Branch of the Moscow State University named after M.V.Lomonosov met with the specialists of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NABRK) in the luxurious hall “Sukhbat” of the National Academic Library. Agreement on Cooperation was signed between these two organizations in the creative and business atmosphere.

Director General of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan Berdigalieva R.A. together with famous Kazakhstan cultural workers, businessmen, representatives of clergy and state bodies participated in the work of “round table” devoted to issues of mobile communication culture among parties of Kazakhstan cellular communication. Company “KaR-Tel” with trade mark Beeline organized this activity in Almaty. All the participants agreed to support the Charter of Mobile Etiquette worked out by Beeline, and signed the corresponding resolution. Only by common efforts we will be able to do the rules of mobile etiquette as a part of our culture and communication by mobile telephone really comfortable both for us and for those around us.

On September 24 – 30, 2007, the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the initiative of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Library Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan will conduct an action “One Country - One Book” for the first time in Kazakhstan. The action aim is development of promoting reading, support of literacy and reading culture, preservation of spiritual heritage, solicitous attitude to the native language, moral and patriotic upbringing of the youth.

On results of the selective survey conducted among workers of libraries and educational institutions, on numerous readers responses and suggestions, “Book of Words” by Abai Kunanbayev was named as the book for national reading.

Today, a meeting of the Public Council on preparation for the III Civil Forum has taken place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Yertysbaev E.K., Minister of Culture and Information, representatives of the Department of Internal Policy (Astana), Ministry of Education and Science, members of the Council on preparation for the III Civil Forum which includes representatives of the republican non-governmental organizations (NGO) participated at the meeting.

Under the conditions of swiftly developing information society, strengthening humanization and democratization ideas in the society, philosophy of open world, the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NABRK) broadens directions of library activity and ways of information service. This year, in April, a Room for disabled readers was opened. Basic aim of the new Room – to provide equal and free access to information for disabled people, help them realize themselves in today's social situation, help in forming views and values system.

On July 25, 2007, a “round table” on the topic “Citizens Access to Justice: Ways of RK Legislation Development” took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Commission on the Human Rights at the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, “Freedom House” Representation in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Public Association “Woman's Legal Centre” became the organizers of this activity.

On July 14, 2007, a seminar for mass media leaders took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This action is organized by the Ministry of Culture and Information of RK together with the Central Election Committee for explaining basic legal aspects of mass media work while elucidating election campaigns.

The sites of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (www.nabrk.kz) and the Library Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan (www.bark.kz ) were mentioned in the famous “Big Encyclopedia of Kaznet” last week. Information-educational portal “Lyakhov.KZ - Big Encyclopedia of Kaznet” has been existing in different forms in Internet since 1996; it is one of the most authoritative guides in Kazakhstan Internet segment. Almaty web-publisher and journalist Alexander E. Lyakhov is a founder and editor-in chief of the Portal as well as author of all the subject sites.

On July 7, the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan met the participants of the VII International Poetry Festival – Day of Abai – prominent Russian, Ukrainian and Kazakhstan poets and writers – Andrei Dement'yev, Nikolai Pereyaslov, Vladimir Boyarinov, Rustem Zhangozha, Rollan Seisenbaev, Kakimbek Salykov, Kairat Zhumagaliev, Nadezhda Chernova, Bakhytzhan Kanap'yanov. The honorary guests conducted master-class for young poets from Astana and met with the readers of the library.

The Whole Country Reads the “Book of Words” by Abai!

On July 6, 2007, birthday of Astana city, the “Book of Words” by Abai Kunanbayev was declared as a book of the action “One Country – One Book” by Berdigalieva R.A., the Director General of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the VII International Poetry Festival – Day of Abai; well-known Russian and Kazakhstan poets and writers participated there. This book has been chosen by the results of inquiry conducted among the staff of libraries and educational organizations, and by numerous responses and suggestions of readers. Despite the fact that many years passed since Abai's time, several generations gave place to each other, the “Book of Words” is topical today as never before, it is a guiding line in our life. This book embraces different topics – Kazakhstan history, love to motherland, culture, people's psychology, philosophy of life, ethics of interrelations between people.

Ashok Sadzhankhar, India Ambassador in the Republic of Kazakhstan, has visited the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. A distinguished guest chose the NABRK not accidentally as one of the first objects for acquaintance with the capital after recent inauguration. Close collaboration ties connect the library with India. In February 2006, Centre of India study, the only one in Astana, opened here; it furthers rapprochement of two nations; the NABRK specialists have training in India every year, the library met quite recently the President of the World Council of Cultural Heritage Zaratustra  Dr. Khomi Dkhalla.

The Fourteenth International Conference “Crimea – Libraries and Information Resources in Modern World of Science, Culture, Education and Business” took place on 9 – 17 June, 2007 in Sudak and other Crimean cities (Koktebel, Simferopol, Old Crimea, Feodosia). A conference topic in 2007 – “Role of Electronic Information and Electronic Libraries in Moving to the Society Built on Knowledge”. “Crimea” conference is a world professional forum for specialists and leaders of the libraries, publishing houses, bookselling organizations, information centres, museums, archives, science, culture, education institutions, computer and Internet companies, business and law.

A seminar-hearing on involving the public in the process of taking decisions by the bodies of state administration took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan; experts, non-governmental organizations, representatives of authorities, international organizations in Kazakhstan, mass-media participated at this seminar.

A “Round Table” with the topic “Access to Information for the Citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan” took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Organizers of the activity are the Representation “Freedom House” in the Republic of Kazakhstan and Corporative Fund “Information Initiative” with support of the Plenipotentiary for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NABRK) is on the leading position in our Republic for library-bibliographic automation level. Basic modules of the computer-based library-information system “RABIS” have been modernized and approved on the base of the NABRK for the first time in Kazakhstan. Now the system works in a unified logical chain of serving readers – from readers registration to checking their visits, book-giving, search and order books. The NABRK librarians have got a rather high level computer technologies knowledge, find their bearings in electron scientific information, use remote full-text research database in services, virtual reference service, electronic document delivery. And also for serving readers, they form their own information database with necessary professional information.

The first meeting of the public Council for implementing the branch programme “The Cultural Heritage” for 2007-2009 took place under the chairmanship of Ashimbayev M.S., the Deputy Head of the President RK Administration in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The following questions were considered at the meeting: examination of the membership of the public Council for implementing the branch programme “The Cultural Heritage” for 2007-2009 and discussion of the Activities Plan for the branch programme “The Cultural Heritage” for 2007-2009.

On invitation of the NATO Public Diplomacy Division, on May 14-15, 2007, Berdigalieva R.A., the Director General of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Yermekpayeva T.G., Head of the World Literature Sector, visited NATO Headquarters in Brussels. A group from Kazakhstan consisted of 14 persons – representatives of higher educational institutions, libraries and non-governmental organizations of Astana and Almaty. Visit purpose was to establish collaboration in science and culture spheres.

The Forum passed under aegis of such famous organizations like UNESCO and IFLA. Organizers of the congress – Ministry of culture and information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, National Academic library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Library association of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Partners – All-Russian State Library of the Foreign Literature named by M.Rudomino, Kazakhstan Association of reading, Congress of youth of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The exhibition was opened by greeting word of the vice president of the committee of information and archives of the ministry of culture and information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurakhmetov S.E. From the name of the publisher and book distribution, director of the print-house “Foliant” Isabekov N.S., made a speech.
