On February 18-20, 2009, VI Kazakhstan International Exhibition “Education and Science of XXI Century – 2009” is taking place in Congress-Hall with support of Ministry of Education and Science of RK and Akimat of Astana city. National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NABRK) participates in exhibition work. It is the only library among 70 participants – leading organizations and institutions of Kazakhstan education and science, as well as countries of the near and far abroad: Russian Federation, Republic of Bashkortostan, Bulgaria, Germany, Turkey and Czechia.
Aim of exhibition is to demonstrate achievements in all the levels of education, up-to-date learning technologies, facilities, new curricula, methodological complexes of new generation, introduction of multimedia and electronic textbooks to educational process.
NABRK as a model of new contemporary library oriented on work with electronic information and creation of national electronic storage presented the whole range of information resources and services. First of all, presentation of Kazakhstan national electronic library (KazNEB) supported in the frame of the state programme “Decrease of Information Inequality” www.kazneb.kz.. KazNEB services were demonstrated to the guests and participants of the exhibition: search in electronic catalog, view of full text electronic book copies published in Kazakhstan, formation of “Private Cabinet” on the portal with opportunity to create file “Selected” and “My Electronic Orders”; electronic order of book fragment on e-mail; preliminary order of books from home or office to the library reading room; virtual reference service “Ask Librarian”.
Exhibition “Nanotechnologies – Innovations of XXI century” is organized by NABRK. It includes books on various fields: biotechnology, nanochemistry, nanomechanics, nanoengineering, nanophysics, microelectronics, etc. Physicist, Nobel Prize laureate R.Feinman told: “If somebody asked me which field of science could provide breakthrough to future, I would say - nanotechnologies”. These words are taken as epigraph for exposition.
