On 29 April 2009, presentation of book “Kazakhstan-Ukraine: Roads and Crossroads” took place in the “Dialogue” hall, National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NABRK). This presentation was organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in RK, the National Academic Library of RK and Archive of the President of RK.
At opening of presentation, Director General of NABRK Berdigalieva R.A. stated: “Book is the shortest way to cultural closer relations of nations. Presenting the book “Kazakhstan-Ukraine: Roads and Crossroads” for our readers, we open the doors to huge potential of mutual interest between our nations. By materials and documents of this publication one can follow reflection of political events on fates of common people, and know rich traditions of our states.”
The book “Kazakhstan-Ukraine: Roads and Crossroads” has been prepared by the Archive of the President of RK together with the Embassy of Ukraine in the frame of conducting Year of Ukraine in Kazakhstan in 2008. The book is based on recollections and autobiographies of famous figures.
Many materials are recollections of Ukrainians who found themselves in Kazakhstan as it chanced. Key moments of Ukraine and Kazakhstan history of the end of XIX – XX centuries are depicted through separate human fates: migration to new lands during Stolypin reforms, military evacuation and Stalin repressions, cultivating new lands, industrial development of Kazakhstan.
Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Ukraine in Kazakhstan N.F.Selivon; Head of Arts Department, Committee of Culture, Ministry of Culture and Information of RK, B.A.Bokebayev; Deputy Director of the Archive of the President of RK Z.S.Aidarbekov; Senate of Parliament of RK Deputy Kubaichuk Yu.A.; Consultant of Secretariat of Kazakhstan People Assembly Kalashnikova N.P.; Head of Scientific Documents Publication Department, Archive of the President of RK Gribanova E.M.; Writer, Editor-in-Chief of “Niva” journal Gundarev V.R.; veteran of work of USSR, High Achiever of Public Health of USSR, Kazakhstani public figure Malikzatova N.Kh.; well-known journalist O.Akhmetov were the speakers at presentation.
Interesting speeches, diverse facts and comments became confirmation of real friendship between peoples of Kazakhstan and Ukraine, as far as mutual interest. Everybody noted that such books and presentations were important for strengthening peace, friendship and concord.
At presentation, there was signed an author's agreement on placing electronic copy of the book “Kazakhstan-Ukraine: Roads and Crossroads” in collection of Kazakhstan National Electronic Library. A disc with the book copy and other materials was presented to NABRK by the Archive of the President of RK (among other materials on the disc – “Political Repressions and Their Effects. Collected Articles and Reminiscences”, “Daniyal Kerimbayev. To One-Hundredth Anniversary”, “Publications of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Bibliographic Index (Annotated). 1997-2008”. Embassy of Ukraine in RK donated the following excellent books to NABRK: “T.G.Shevchenko – Ukraine, Kazakhstan (Past, Today, Future…)”, “Kind Brotherhood is Better Than Wealth” (from chronicle of Ukrainian-Kazakhstani relations (documents and materials 1991-1999), “Ukrainians of Kazakhstan (book-album), “Kazakhstani- Ukrainian “Round Table” “Partnership Prospects of Kazakhstan and Ukraine in New Geopolitical and Geoeconomic Conditions” (materials of “Round Table”). Besides, the author – well-known journalist Oleg Akhmetov – donated a book “The Nearest Aul to Space” to the library.
