On June 1-10, 2009 the seminar «Machine-readable cataloguing» took place on the basis of the St.-Petersburg University Culture and Arts. Experts of the National Academic Library of RK took part in it: a Deputy Head of the Service of the Electronic Catalogue Safronova A.N. and Head of the Sector of this division of Mahambetzhanova K.M. The Purpose of the educational seminar is improvement of professional skills of experts of libraries in the field of machine-readable cataloguing.
Various skills of work with machine-readable carriers are necessary for the international information interchange. For the purpose of formation of such skills there are created projects on cooperation and information interchange on machine-readable carriers on the international and national level. So, in Russia in 1998 there has been developed the system of the automated modules on cataloguing and subject analysis in electronic catalogues of Russia – LIBNET program, which is supported by a state policy in the field of automation of libraries of Russia and made taking into account State Standards and statutory acts, and also the international standards and a management in the field of modern process of machine-readable cataloguing.
The technology of conducting of the National authoritative files in the Russian Federation is created on the basis of LIBNET program.
At a seminar «Machine-readable cataloguing» experts of NAL РК heard a lecture «the Technique of indexing and assignment of subject headings (PR)» and received recommendations in the field of working out of standard-methodical base.
