Republican Scientific-Practical Conference “Zhiraulyk Dastur Zhauharlary” devoted to 150th anniversary of Muryn zhirau Sengirbayev took place on October 7, 2009, in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was organized by Committee on Languages, Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with Institute of Literature and Art by name of Auezov in the frame of XI Republican Festival of Languages of People of Kazakhstan.
Name of Muryn zhirau Sengirbayev is known too little. He is author of great epic work “40 Heroes of the Crimea”. It is historical-poetic chronicle of XIV-XVII centuries about nations inhabited territory from the Crimean peninsula to Altai Mountains. Though this work was done as a legend, in the base of each legend there were put historical events which happened many centuries ago in the Crimea, on Mangyshlak, in Turan, Kazakhstan, Central Asia. This work embraces history of many nations: Kazakh, Nogai, Turkmen, Kyrgyz, and others. That's why Muryn zhirau is interesting to researchers of history of different nations of Kazakhstan, Asia and Russia.
Book “Muryn Zhirau. Fort-Shevchenko” is dedicated to Muryn zhirau's creativity and history of Mangistau. The book was granted to the conference participants.
At the conference, papers and reports were presented by Chair of the Committee on Languages, Ministry of Culture and Information of RK, E.Shaimerdenov, Deputy Akim of Mangistau oblast Karayev Zh., Adviser of Akim of Mangistau oblast, Honoured Worker of RK, Doctor in History Ozganbayev O.O., writers Serik Negimov, Anes Sarai, Akim Tarazi, Tolen Abdik, Professor of KazNU by name of al Farabi Tlepov Zh. and other representatives of creative and public intelligentsia of Kazakhstan. At the second part of the conference, passages from the epos “40 Heroes of the Crimea” were recited by poets-narrators B.Alimzhanov, Zh.Zhamekov, T.Bisenbayev, A.Komekov. The epos came to us thanks to Muryn zhirau Sengirbayev.
