Your library is one of few libraries conducting literary party devoted to memory of my father – children's writer Berdibek Sokpakbaev. My father glorified his nation by various works. Film “My Name Is Kozha” won a main prize as a children's film. I want to wish young generation to read more as life without books is poor. Young people should know their writers”.

Berdibek Sokpakbaev was born on 15 October, 1924, in Narynkol district, Almaty oblast, in a poor family. When he was 8, his mother died. He experienced many ordeals and worries: hard work, starvation.

Berdibek Sokpakbaev's books are autobiographical to a large extent. The writer told, “What is experienced in childhood is never forgotten. Impressions don't grow scanty and cold. They glimmer as heat under layer of ashes. You should blow away this layer and fire blazes up!..”

Unfortunately, the writer is not with us any more, but his books are left, and many readers will have happy chance to meet their heroes.
