On 16 March, 2010, theatre staging on Erich Kastner was shown in the frame of the Year of Germany in Kazakhstan, in the “Kogildir” Hall of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Students of the fifth, seventh, and eighth grades of German gymnasium №46 of Astana city, under the direction of Julia Koll (Scholar of Robert Bosh Foundation) and Natalie Keller (Language Assistant, German Language Center of Astana city), participated in the project. Students from eight schools of Astana city studying the German language were invited as audience to the performance.
Erich Kastner is one of the best-known German writers of the 20th century. He is famous as journalist, writer, playwright, and director. First of all, he achieved international success owing to his children's books that were published around the world. One of those books is a book under the title “Flying Class Room” which became the project target in cooperation with Natalie Keller, language assistant of the German Language Center of Astana city.
Aim of the project was to acquaint students studying the German language, with modern German literature and to captivate them with this literature. In this connection, it was necessary to insert nonstandard elements of teaching foreign language into habitual lessons.
Theatre staging consisted of presentation of Erich Kastner's biography and musical-artistic interpretation of his works.
