NAB RK Specialists Had Training Course in Egypt

From 15 to 30 March, 2010, a group of NAB RK specialists had training course in Egypt organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Egypt and Egyptian Foundation of Technical Cooperation with CIS Countries. Kazakhstani librarians had training course on the basis of the leading libraries of Egypt.

National Research Centre of Egypt organized a special seminar where the following lectures were delivered: “Introduction of Information Technologies in Paper and Digital Libraries”, “Documents and Manuscripts Restoration, and Transformation to Digital Form”, “Technology of Using Internet in Libraries and Their Development”, “Remote Leaning”, “Professional and Psychological Training of Librarian”. Theoretical part of learning was supported with practical lessons. So, processes of documents restoring from the beginning to the end were shown in unique laboratories of the Egyptian National Library and Archives. Much important and interesting information was received during visits to libraries of Cairo University, American University, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; experience exchange took place.

Cultural programme was also rich. Representatives from Kazakhstan visited the Egyptian museum, mosque of Sultan Beibarys, one of the Seven Wonders of the World – Egyptian pyramids, health resort Sharm El-Sheikh.

Signing of agreement on collaboration between the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Egyptian National Library is planned before long.

Library and methodological cooperation with libraries of Egypt will give opportunity to adopt their advanced experience in specialists training, solve the most important tasks on library processes automation together with foreign colleagues, organize exhibitions, and exchange materials for publication in Kazakhstani and Egyptian library journals.
